The 2-week AML program rollout plan for businesses behind the deadline

If you're starting late: a realistic week-by-week plan to get a defensible program in place before 1 July 2026.

By James Carter

Two weeks is tight but not impossible if you commit a principal's time and use a guided platform rather than building from scratch.

Week one — scope and stand up

  • Day 1: Run the risk assessment. Confirm which of your services are designated.
  • Day 2: Pick a provider and sign the order form. Schedule onboarding.
  • Day 3: Walk through the program builder with the provider's onboarding lead.
  • Day 4: Document your business risk assessment (client base, services, channels, jurisdictions).
  • Day 5: Approve Part A and Part B. Nominate your AML compliance officer in writing.

Week two — operationalise and train

  • Day 6–7: Configure ID verification, screening, and monitoring rules.
  • Day 8: Run a test onboarding end-to-end. Capture the audit trail.
  • Day 9: Roll out staff training. Capture attestations.
  • Day 10: Enrol with AUSTRAC.
  • Day 11–14: Tidy documentation, schedule the first independent review, and brief partners.
